Toy Army Tuesday - Introduction

Hi lovelies! Today I thought I would announce a new feature to my blog - Toy Tuesday. I thought it would be fun to share my love of toys and toy collection! Each Tuesday I hope to share with you information about various toys and ones from my collection. You may be thinking - toys? really? But there is a lot more to them than you might think. I am really hoping some of you may be as interested in them as I am. *Crosses fingers.

I thought I would start small today, simply photographing some of my collection. In the upcoming weeks I will give you more information about the type of toy, it's artist, etc. I also thought it might be awesome to have guests on here share about their collection. But for now here is a sneak peak of what is to come!

I didn't start collecting until last spring but my collection has come a long way since then :]

Photographed above: Dunnies, Labbit, Scavengers, Domo, Ugly Dolls, Blythe - more about them coming next week! Have a great Tuesday everyone.

Most wanted Mondays - Birds of a feather

Growing up one of my fondest memories is of the owls. On top of my childhood home we had this awful 14ft bird cage looking antenna. I met people who knew my house before they had even met me due to the crazy contraption on top of our roof. You would think that we had excellent TV channels to choose from, but the truth is that we didn't even have cable. Our house was constantly being hit by lightning. Why we didn't bother to take the crazy thing down until we moved is beyond me, but anyways... The one great thing about that 14ft antenna was that it attracted the owls. For a few years, late at night when everything was quiet, you could hear the owls "whoooing" on top of our roof. My mom and I would sneak outside to look up at them and watch them fly off into the darkness. Since then I have loved anything and everything owl related. I have accumulated quite the collection of owl items and thought for this post it would be fun to make a list of owl and bird related items. Enjoy :]

Headshots

Hi all. The busy week is over and I am glad that it is finally the weekend. I finished up designing the website for my client, now I am waiting to meet with him to discuss any adjustments. It is exciting that I will have my first website up and running for a local business very soon. Last weekend I also took some headshots for my brother and his girlfriend. They are both very talented musical theater majors. I can't wait to see them on broadway some day :] Here is the photo my brother chose.

Hen

I think it turned out well. I took their headshots last year too around the same time - which is crazy because January weather in Chicago is so cold. We took the photos outside for the natural light and froze our bums off. Thankfully we got them all in before the freezing rain began. I would post more from the shoot but my flickr account is warning me that I have almost used up my space for the month - whoops. Alrighty, I am just rambling now...

Here is a video for fun from my brother in high school - d'aww.
I wish he had more recent stuff up.

Anywho, have a lovely weekend everyone!!

Blog Awards

Arielle, from Humble Pie Vintage passed this blog award on to me the other day. Her blog is one of my favorite reads. She posts fun stories and photos along with interesting facts and quotes. You should definitely check her blog out today because I really think you will enjoy it :]

Info:
This award is given to bloggers with less than 200 followers, in the hopes that it will bring many new friends/followers. Liebster is German and means 'dearest' or 'beloved' but it can also mean 'favorite'. The idea of the Liebster award is to bring attention to blogs with less than 200 followers. So, I am passing this award on to five other bloggers. Please stop by and visit them.

The Rules are:
1. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
2. Reveal your five picks for the award and let them know.
3. Post the award on your blog.
4. Bask in the love from the most supportive people on the blogshare-other bloggers.
5. Finally and the best rule of all..........have fun and spread the love!

I am passing this award on to 5 lovely bloggers:

1. In the Light of Style- Erica is an incredible blogger with quite an eye for style, which only makes sense seeing as her focus in school is Apparel Merchandising and Design. Her fashion blog is a beautiful collection of personal photos and stories which highlight her unique style. If you are looking for outfit inspiration you must check out her blog!

2. Blythe Ponytail Parades- Violet's blog is such a great find. Violet is a very talented photographer and her blog keeps you up to date with her latest work. Her blog covers it all - life, fashion, inspiration, DIY's and much, much more. Oh, and if you didn't catch it in her blog's title - she is very into Blythe as well :]

3. Lost Cabin- Toni's blog is a new favorite of mine. Her and her husbands blog covers a wide variety of topics from design, music, film, and photography - to life, fashion, books and more. I really enjoy the newest addition to the blog "Meet the Maker" posts on Mondays. These posts highlight small business owners and their company's. Check out this fun blog today.

4. My Billie- Melanie is a really cool girl with a great blog. Her blog has plenty creative DIY tutorials to keep you busy - you have to check out her DIY post about how to make a Roscharch necklace!! Her blog also has outfit posts, photography, and stories to keep you inspired :]

Thrifted Thursday / Wardrobe Wednesday combo

Hey all! Since I am behind in my blogging I thought I would combine my Wardrobe Wednesday with Thrifted Thursday seeing as I thrifted the outfit in this post :] I wish I had more photos today but I forgot my tripod at home and since it is a gloomy day the lighting was horrible. Eeep! Oh well.

Outfit Details: Dress - Libertine for Target, scooped it up at my local Salvation Army however. $3.50 :]

These items are some kitchen thrifts.

Ceramic hippo - I bought this sponge holder a year or two back. I have seen a lot of frog and whale sponge holders but never a hippo so I had to scoop this guy up.

Floral pan - I picked this up two weeks back. I instantly fell in love with its bright colors and fun - 60's flower power detailing. The yellow also matches my crazy ceramic hippo sponge holder. I am going to have a wild kitchen one day...

Viking oven mit - I purchased this guy at a thrift store three years back. How cute is he? I had to take him home. Right now I have him hanging on my wall. I am too afraid to actually use him and get him dirty.

Thrift any good finds recently? Let me know :]

I hope you all are having a lovely week. I have a fun post coming up tomorrow dedicated to some of my favorite bloggers so stay tuned!

Most wanted Monday - Lace

I am a sucker for anything lace. It looks so delicate and feminine. I love how intricate and unique each piece is. I am not one of those girls who dreamt up their dream wedding at the age of 5 but I can tell you that I will be walking down the aisle in lace should that day ever come. I know a lot of girls may find lace tacky but I absolutely love it and I don't foresee that changing any time soon. Todays theme is dedicated to lace. Here is a list of lovely lace items from around the internet. Enjoy...or despise :] ** Please click on the items name to be taken to it's page for more information.

Thrifted Thursdays

Hi all! Another Thrifted Thursday here. Just wanted to show off a few of my latest and favorite thrifted treasures.

DSC_0076a

Sweetpea wanted in on the shoot again, she loves getting into whatever mama is working on :] This chevron blanket wasn't thrifted - sorry - but I did find it in my basement and had no clue it existed until a few days ago. This blanket was given to my mom some time in the 70's by a sweet neighbor. She thought the colors were too wild growing up but I fell instantly in love with them. The colors are still so bright and looks brand new. Although it wasn't thrifted, I was just too excited and had to share with someone.

Lace Skirt - This skirt came from Forever 21 but I picked it up at Village Discount for less than a dollar :]

Leather Purse - My mom had a coupon to one of our favorite thrift stores so I picked up this genuine leather purse for under $2. I don't think anyone used it by the looks of it. I was in dire need of a new purse so I was glad to find this.

Metal guitar - I found this at a local Savers. I really like all of the detailing on it. I plan on cleaning it up and repainting it. I like the distressed look it has at the moment though, so I will try to allow some of the bottom copper color to show through.

Happy thrifting everyone!! Have you found anything exciting recently?

Wardrobe Wednesday - keepin' it classy

Hi all! This is the outfit I wore to graduation in December. I didn't get too many shots on actual graduation day so I decided to revisit it. It started snowing madly while taking photographs so I had to take shots of the dress inside.

Outfit Details: Coat - Lauren Moffatt | Dress - Lulu's | Tights - Target | Flats (not photographed, ha whoops) - Steve Madden.

Again - does anyone know how to have the images you upload to flickr show up as the thumbnail in news feeds? Thanks.

Have a lovely Wednesday!!

Introducing Abraham

Hi all! I thought it was about time that I introduce my lil man Abraham (aka Abe or Abrahammy). He was named after my other favorite man Abraham Lincoln of course. Abraham was stinky and needed a bubble bath today. He is a squirmy worm in the tub so I only got one shot. Here he is at bath time :]

Sticking his tongue out at the camera, haha.

Image overload, I know. What can I say...I am a proud mamma!
